A day in the sun at Brighton

The sun is shining brightly and it is a perfect day. TU1 and TU2 set off early and make their way to the coast. BRIGHTON used to be a fishing village until the 18th century, but then the healing power of seawater was discovered and it developed into the largest and most famous seaside resort in the whole of England.

After the Prince of Wales had also discovered the benefits of seawater in around 1800, he bought a farmhouse in Brighton. This farmhouse was reconstructed and expanded in the following years and is now the ROYAL PAVILLION. The architect John Nash created an Indian look with towers and minarets. After a relaxed walk through the Lanes and the visit to the Brighton Pier, there is still plenty of time left to enjoy the sun at the beach, although the water is too cold for the majority of the students. On the way back we take a detour to BEACHY HEAD. Everyone is astonised by the mighty chalk headland and the amazing view from the cliffs! It is a pefect setting to take some beautiful pictures. The older students have had a “normal Benenden day” with lessons, workshops and countless activities.

In the evening there is an amazing NEON PARTY in the assembly hall. The activity team has prepared a fantastic black-light show as an introduction and the kids have dressed up stylishly in neon colours. Bendy lights and neon balloons: there is flashing and blinking right up to bedtime.
