Rye
Rye is a small town in the county of East Sussex in the South-East of Great Britain. It used to be part of the Cinque Ports confederation. The town was attacked and destroyed many times throughout history, for example by the French in 1377. An economic downfall occurred as the harbor basins dried out. Nowadays, Rye is a much visited tourist attraction that has been able to retain its medieval character. Rye is situated around 3.2 km (1.8 miles) from the sea, is part of the Rother district and has a population of around 4,600.
