The Obermair private school was founded by Mag. Gottfried Obermair in 1974. The school is politically, religiously and economically independent and has developed from small beginnings to the largest institution of its kind in Austria. In 1974, the first study course of the Obermair private school was carried out in the Wimmhof mining education institute in Fusch an der Glocknerstraße. Various youth centres in Abtenau, Radstadt, Zell am Moos and Salzburg followed. In 1978, the world-famous English private school, BENENDEN SCHOOL, was rented out with an EXCLUSIVE CONTRACT. In 1979, a school and boarding house were constructed by the Holzöstersee. This stands today as an ideal campus close to the lake.
